Week 9: Thing 23

Some Final Thoughts

23 Things has been a very informative journey for me and my peers. I think that one of its assets is its approachability. It is set up in such a way that encourages learners of all levels to experience new things in new ways.

Here at CCPL, I am sure that we will continue learning more about Web 2.0 applications, as well as sharing our finds with one another. Like any journey, not every step is a success. It remains the actual act of walking and finding a path that really makes the journey.

I even love the homage of the name! I am taking this opportunity to download an electronic version of Stevenson's Treasure Island.

Once again, the net has united people with shared interests while providing infinite amounts of information. The world is flat, and it is a small world, after all.

Week 9: Thing 20

Okay, so I have already discovered You Tube. I took this opportunity to use the search feature to find my friends' cats. A great way to entertain, stay in touch, and inform. You Tube provides the ultimate in usability.

Well, this is pretty cool. Basically, users create 'lenses' for other users to view their preferences. If you haven't figured it out already, life in the 21st century is all about customization. In the customization process; however, we still crave some commonality. We want others to like us. We want to share similar likes and dislikes. Squidoo provides a launching point.

Wow! This was so easy to use! I used the writer to retrieve an existing document, in this case an old press release, for posting on my blog. It was instant!
